Museum of Cardiff

The Museum of Cardiff is the first museum where Cardiffians and visitors alike can discover the story of the city through the eyes of those who know it best – its people.

The perfect place to start your visit to Cardiff!

The museum tells the tale of how Cardiff was transformed from a small market town in the 1300s, to one of the world’s biggest ports in the 1900s, to the cool, cosmopolitan capital we know today.  With activities for all ages, it is housed in one of Cardiff’s most historic buildings – the Old Library – in the heart of the city centre, and is free entry.

The Museum of Cardiff is a great starting point for any visit to Cardiff, and gives an introduction to the city’s history through engaging, interactive displays.  It uses the stories of the people who have lived and worked in the city over past centuries to bring history to life.

The museum runs a full event and temporary exhibition programme – details can be found on our website or by giving us a ring.
